Mevagissey Gig Club are holding a team building event for businesses to raise money for Mevagissey Gig Rowing Club. The event will take place on Saturday 12 July 2008 at 11am, Click here to download a leaflet which gives further details for the event.

From our initial enquires we have found that there is a great deal of interest and many businesses want to take part. We can only manage 9 teams and with some companies proposing to enter more than one team, your chance to take part is limited. So please don’t take too long to decide, as you may miss out on this great opportunity to improve team relationships within your company plus the chance to network with other businesses in a fun environment at the picturesque Portmellon Cove just outside Mevagissey. Mevagissey Gig Rowing Club has begun rowing for juniors & novices on Wednesday evenings at Portmellon Cove. They would be delighted to see any juniors who would like to row for the club from year 7 upwards. Juniors are asked to meet at 6.15pm on the concrete slipway at Portmellon. Any adult novices who would like to take up gig rowing are also encouraged to attend, meeting at 7pm also at the slipway.

Meanwhile, their Mens A, Ladies A , Ladies B and Ladies Veteran crews continue to train for the annual World Championships being held in the Isles of Scilly in May. This will be the 19th year running that the club have taken part and they will be rowing Endeavour (20 years old on 16th April!) and Kerens who they recently sold to the Torridge Pilot Gig Club.

The Club is currently having a new gig built which should be ready for the important Tribute Event (sponsored by St Austell Brewery) which the club is hosting at Pentewan Sands on 21st June. The Club Secretary, Martin Walton said that they are extremely grateful for the recent grant which they were awarded by Restormel Borough Council which has made the purchase of this new gig possible.
